Water Conservation
Water conservation is the most cost-effective and environmental friendly way to reduce the ever increasing demand for water. Of course, besides protecting the environment, water conservation also helps in saving money.
While North Shore Plumbing can help you conserve water by installing your rainwater tank, here are some tips that you can use to save water at home.
- Don't water your lawn to excess! A simple way to check if your lawn needs watering is to step on it and check if the grass springs back when you lift your foot. If it does, you don't need to water it. If you use sprinklers, make sure to use environmental friendly water-efficient sprinklers.
- Fix leaky faucets, shower heads, and toilets. Turn off the faucet while you're brushing your teeth.
- Use a dishwasher to wash vessels instead of washing dishes under a tap. You could end up saving over a 100 litres of water every time.
- Turn on your washing machine and dishwasher only when the loads are full.
- Take quick showers instead of long warm baths.
- Use a shower timer. You will conserve water and save time.
- For a precise car wash, use a bucket and sponge instead of a hosepipe. Not only will you save water, but the dirty areas of your car can be targeted more precisely.
